The area of Lake Constance hinterland between Salem and Mark village is with regulation from 1 January 2005 by the Regierungspräsidium Tübingen after Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna and Habitats Directive) be trained reserve (SG number DE-8221342) in the Southeast German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg .

location

The around 405 hectare nature reserve Lake Constance hinterland between Salem and Markdorf is part of the Lake Constance basin . Its ten sub-areas are at a height of 401 to 563  m above sea level. NHN and extend in the municipalities of Bermatingen , Daisendorf , Immenstaad , Oberteuringen , Salem and Uhldingen-Mühlhofen as well as the cities of Friedrichshafen , Markdorf and Meersburg, which are part of the Lake Constance district .

The sub-areas include the area between Mühlhofen in the northwest, the Rotach in the east and Lake Constance in the south.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the ponds, moors and forests in the hinterland of Lake Constance.

Habitat types

The diversity of habitat types characterized by moisture is evidence of glacial and post-glacial landscape development as well as traditional land use. The protected area is mainly characterized by the following habitats: mixed forest (29%), moist and mesophilic grassland (28%), deciduous forest (28%) and inland waterways (5%).

Lipbach Basin
The structure ofthe mostly freely meandering Lipbach stream is still largely natural,followed by swamp forest , forest and wooded edges as well as clay pit waters (" Heger Weiher ") as a habitat for a large number of endangered and specially protected plant and animal species.
