history

Until the 12th century the village had a certain regional importance as a place of justice. Until 1413 the area belonged to the property of the monastery of Konstanz , then to the city of Ravensburg . In the 16th and 17th centuries the village was burned down several times by robber barons and the armies of the Thirty Years War .
In 1810, as part of the new administrative structure of the Kingdom of Württemberg , the current municipal area became part of the Tettnang District Office . Oberteuringen initially formed the Eggenweiler community with Ettenkirch , but became an independent community in 1823. Until the outbreak of the First World War , Oberteuringen had developed into an agricultural center and an important trading center for agricultural products. In 1922, a railway connection to Friedrichshafen was built with the Teuringertal Railway , which was finally shut down in 1964.
During the district reform in Württemberg during the Nazi era , Oberteuringen became part of the Friedrichshafen district in 1938 . In 1945 Oberteuringen became part of the French zone of occupation and thus came to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which was incorporated into the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. Through the district reform in Baden-Württemberg , the community came to the Bodenseekreis in 1973.
