history
On May 27, 1263, Count Wolfrad the Elder of Veringen gave the Kreuzlingen monastery his right to own the property in Bitzenhofen, which his owner, knight Heinrich von Kappel, sold there for 21 marks .
In 1413 the Schmalegg rule , to which Bitzenhofen with Neuhaus and Weiler belonged, was sold by the Werenbergers to the imperial city of Ravensburg . Until 1803, Bitzenhofen therefore formed a separate rule of the imperial city.
The robber baron Hans von Rechberg burned down because of a dispute with the imperial cities in 1454 Ober- and Unterteuringen, Hefigkofen and Bitzenhofen. The area suffered particularly during the Thirty Years War . In 1646, Bitzenhofen and Teuringen were reduced to rubble by the Hohentwiel patrols.
