Viktor Wuganigg

Viktor Wuganigg (born January 5, 1914 in Wießenthal an der Neisse , northern Bohemia ; † May 10, 2009 in Weiz , Styria ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a long-time member of the Austrian National Council .

Career

After compulsory school, Wuganigg attended trade school and completed correspondence engineering school and a seminar at the University of Chicago. His learned profession was a locksmith. He also worked as a welder, electrical winder, technical calculator and operations assistant at the ELIN plants in Weiz.

In 1934 he was imprisoned for political reasons. He began his political engagement as an education and culture advisor. In Weiz he was a member of the municipal council of the city of Weiz from 1950 to 1979 as well as club chairman of the socialist municipal council. He was the district chairman of the SPÖ Weiz and was a member of the Styrian state parliament from 1965 to 1970. Between March 31, 1970 and June 4, 1979 he was a member of the Austrian National Council.
