The resurrection linden tree is a natural monument in the Saxon town of Annaberg-Buchholz and is located in the old Annaberg cemetery above the bus station in front of the Trinity Church .
history
According to a legend, the resurrection linden tree is said to have been planted upside down, which should explain its candelabra growth. This tree is a guided summer linden whose branches used to rest on a wooden frame. Their age is estimated to be at least between 375 and 600 years. The tree has a circumference of 7.5 meters (2007) under the branches and a waist of 7.25 meters (2001).
Already in 1884 there was a report about the linden tree in the "garden arbor", at that time the linden tree is said to have been 400 years old and around 6 m in circumference. During this time the linden tree was a popular postcard motif.
