Dissolution (verse theory)
In quantitative ancient metrics, resolution is the replacement of a long syllable (-) with two short syllables (◡◡) (see quantity ). In this way, for example, a tribrachys (◡◡◡) emerges from an iambus (entsteht—) or a trochaeus (—◡ ).
