Charging

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Load increase refers to the increase in gross vehicle weight with constant empty weight of vehicles after their approval.

Advantages and disadvantages

A loading allows the transport of larger loads. In this way, the space available in caravans or trailers can be better used. In the case of vehicle classes taxed by weight, however, an increase may be accompanied by an increased vehicle tax . In addition, it may be necessary to adjust the insurance tariffs for some vehicle classes. An increased total load is also often associated with a reduced top speed.

Options for charging

If an increase is required, the gross vehicle weight rating in the vehicle documents can first be compared with the vehicle's maximum axle load . If lower values are recorded in the papers than on the axle, a value adjustment can be made in the vehicle documents. In addition to a clearance certificate from the manufacturer or an expert and a new type plate, different tires are often required for this. The application for a charge is submitted to TÜV or DEKRA (or an expert or another responsible organization). It is necessary to present the vehicle registration document or vehicle registration document and, in the case of trailers, the COC paper . The approval authority issues a new approval certificate with the certificate received there and the nameplate.

If a further increase is required, the permissible axle load can be increased on some models by replacing the suspension elements. In the event of very large differences in weight, components of the chassis or the entire chassis must be replaced.
