Tear-open tickets from Austrian Lotteries that are marketed as letter tickets

A tear-open ticket (known in Austria as a letter- ticket from the product of the Austrian Lotteries ) is a certificate of participation in an instant lottery that is sold folded and locked and reveals its profit information by tearing it open.

In various federal states, tear-open tickets with cash prizes are on offer in the state lottery. But they can also be found in the form of raffles , especially at annual fairs . The instant winnings there are mostly stuffed animals .

The lot is designed in such a way that it is impossible for the winning information to shine through by holding it against the light, mostly by blackening or opaque coating of the opposite paper surfaces. The remaining areas usually contain information on the conditions and distribution of winnings and conditions of participation, and often a payment deadline.
