Angiolo Vestris

Angiolo Maria Gasparo Vestris (born November 19, 1730 in Florence , † June 10, 1809 in Paris ) was an Italian dancer and actor.

Life

Angiolo was the son of Tommaso Marin Ippolito Vestris (actually Vestri), of whose seven children a total of three have taken up the dance profession: Therese (1726-1808), Gaetano (1728-1808) and Angiolo.

Angiolo was a younger brother of Gaetano Vestris . He studied dance with Louis Dupré and in 1753 became a soloist at the Opéra National de Paris . He later danced under Jean Georges Noverre in Stuttgart . In 1767 he went back to Paris, where he was an actor at the Comédie-Italienne .

In 1766 he married the French actress Françoise-Rose Gourgaud , called Rose Vestris, in Stuttgart (born April 7, 1743 in Marseille ; October 5, 1804 in Paris ). She was the daughter of Pierre-Antoine Gourgaud , called Dugazon .
