The eye shower is a technical first aid device ( emergency shower ) that is mainly used in laboratories and manufacturing companies. The eye shower can be used to rinse the eyes (and of course the face) to remove foreign objects or dilute contamination until a doctor can intervene for further treatment. It is operated by the injured person himself or by a third party.

A distinction is made between systems that are permanently connected to the drinking water network and portable units (eye wash bottles) and tank systems. Portable rinsing bottles in combination with a special rinsing liquid include: a. for equipping vehicles that are used in the rescue service. The requirements for eye showers, like those of other emergency shower facilities, are standardized within the European Union and the USA.
