The safety shower is a technical first aid device that is mainly used in laboratories and manufacturing plants.

With the aid of the emergency shower, clothing and body (or eyes and face) can be rinsed to remove any splashed, caustic or hot chemicals or at least to quickly dilute or cool them down until a doctor can intervene for further treatment . The emergency shower is operated by the injured person or by third parties.

There are other types of safety shower facilities such as the eye shower .

The requirements for safety showers are standardized within the European Union and the USA.
