Augpunkt (road design)
As eye point (rarely eye point called) is called the road design a stylized point in space , which occupies the position of the eyes of the driver. It is an important parameter when planning and checking the visibility of roads. In Switzerland this parameter is also called the observation point .
The eye point forms the starting point for the line of sight, which leads from the driver's eye to the target point . The height of the eye point depends on the height of the driver's seat above the road . The road construction guidelines define where and at what height the eye point must be located. In Germany, for example, the height of the eye point for car drivers is 1.00 meters and for truck drivers 2.50 meters above the road.
