history

Egger brewhouse

In 1675 the suburban brewery Gwercher was founded in Kufstein, which was taken over by the Egger family in 1868.

After a year and a half of construction, the first beer delivery started in June 1978 in the new brewery in Unterradlberg. In 2009 a new brewhouse was built and in 2010 the can filling system was expanded and renewed. In 2012, a fully automatic high-bay warehouse with space for 20,000 pallets was commissioned. In 2014 the location was modernized with a new filling system and the technology for the production of non-alcoholic beer was upgraded.

In 2012 the brewery was named “Lower Austria's Leading Company” by the WirtschaftsBlatt Community. In 2016, a total of six Egger products were awarded the gold medal by the German Food Society (DLG).

Business areas

In addition to the sale of own brands such as Egger Märzen and Co., contract bottling and the production of private labels for retail chains are a source of income. This could be increased compared to the previous year. Between 30,000 and 50,000 cans are filled per hour on the can systems. 30,000 bottles per hour are filled on the bottle system. The barrel system fills 60 pieces of the 50 l barrels per hour (30,000 barrels per year).

In addition to nationwide distribution in Austria, the Egger private brewery also delivers to neighboring countries. Almost every fourth Egger beer was sold abroad in 2015. Around 20 percent of total sales come from exports. Italy is the front runner in exports; It also exports to Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Serbia, Australia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands. Egger Bier has been on the Chinese beer market since 2012.
