Ganghofer Allee

The avenue in early autumn

The Ganghofer-Allee is a natural monument in Welden . In 1869 the royal forester August Ganghofer , father of the writer Ludwig Ganghofer , had 56 winter linden trees planted on Theklaberg in Welden, for which, as the forester's daughter noted ... the community got the plants free of charge from Papa's planting garden. In the meantime these have grown into a magnificent avenue of lime trees. The approx. 175 m long lime tree avenue is under nature protection. Occasionally the avenue was refreshed with young trees.
