August Steiger

August Steiger (born April 10, 1884 in Eckartsau ; † September 11, 1963 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and farmer. Steiger was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1930 to 1932 .

Steiger attended elementary school and took over his parents' farm in 1912. Steiger was mayor of Eckartsau from 1919 to 1938 and represented the Christian Social Party between December 18, 1930 and May 21, 1932 in the Lower Austrian state parliament. When the National Socialists came to power, Steiger was imprisoned between March and June 1938. After the Second World War, Steiger took over the office of mayor again between 1945 and 1948. He was vice-president of the beet farmers' association and held the office of chairman of the Groß-Enzersdorf district chamber from 1945 to 1948, which he had already held between 1922 and 1938.
