The auction & Markt AG is an auction site for used cars , classic cars and vintage cars , as well as commercial real estate , which was founded in 1988 by its current CEO Karl Rolf Muth.

history

Auction & Markt was founded in August 1988 as a sole proprietorship by the publicly appointed and sworn auctioneer Karl Rolf Muth in Wiesbaden with the aim of auctioning used vehicles to private individuals and retailers. A few years after the founding, the decision was made to only allow commercial vehicle dealers to participate in the auctions - private individuals have since been excluded from buying. In 2001, Auktion & Markt opened, in addition to the head office in the Rhine-Main area, other auction centers in Germany, as well as agencies abroad. In 2004, one year after the start of the Autobid.de auction platform (used car auctions could now also be held online in real time), Auction & Market took on the legal form of a stock corporation . Karl Rolf Muth has been the CEO and owner since then.

The more than 140,000 vehicles auctioned each year mainly include lease returns, trade-ins, accident vehicles, as well as company cars, commercial vehicles and classic cars.

Over 25,000 registered car dealers from around 40 European countries use the various auction forms. Auction & Markt AG has been active in the real estate business with the propertybid.de brand since May 2013. The Classicbid brand was added in 2014. This division deals with the marketing of classic automobiles.

Brands

The Autobid brand has been in use since 2003 and is used for online auctions. In January 2013 propertybid was started as a platform for commercial real estate. With Classicbid, an auction and trading platform for classic automobiles was opened in 2014. In mid-2018, Auktion & Markt AG opened the ClassicX Café & Restaurant, which is located in the premises of the Classicbid Center Rheinhessen in Grolsheim (near Bingen am Rhein).
