Aurach (toponym)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aurach is a place and water body name that occurs several times in the southern German-speaking area, also in a slightly different form than Aura or Urach . It was created as a compound from the Middle High German words ūr (e) ' Auerochse ' and ahe , -ach , which can be traced back to an equivalent Old High German aha 'flowing water'. The designation motif is therefore a body of water on which aurochs graze.
