Ausava

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ausava was a Roman vicus , a so-called mutatio (changing horse station) on the Roman road from Trier to Cologne . It is listed in the Itinerarium Antonini and on the Tabula Peutingeriana . The Roman settlement was located in the wider area of the places Oos (today part of Gerolstein ) and Büdesheim .

The place is on the old Roman road Trier-Neuss .

During the Germanic invasions of 275/76 AD the place was destroyed and afterwards, unlike the neighboring street places Beda ( Bitburg ) and Icorigium ( Jünkerath ), it was not rebuilt. The ancient place has not yet been located.
