Exclusion error

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An exclusion error is a mistake or foul that leads to the exclusion of a player in some ball sports , often only for a short period of time, so that the player can return to the field after the time penalty . However, the team affected by the exclusion will play undernumbered during the time penalty, i.e. with one player less.

Exclusion error in water polo

An exclusion error is punished by the referees in water polo if a player holds another player, blocks the direct shot or severely interferes with him in the center game . The player affected by the expulsion must then immediately swim to the corner opposite the protocol and dive under the red ribbon. After 20 seconds he may intervene in the game again, should he leave the area beforehand, there is a risk of another exclusion error. In the event of three exclusion errors, the player is banned from the game, but with a replacement.

An exclusion error is marked with an A in the water polo protocol and the player is waved back into the game by the protocol with the blue flag.
