The Kirchberg observation tower ( 678  m above sea level ) is an observation tower on the Kirchberg in the Upper Franconian town of Helmbrechts .

The tower stands on the mostly wooded Kirchberg on the northern edge of the urban area. A watch tower used to stand in the same place . Margrave Friedrich issued a waiting order in 1498 to protect his margrave Brandenburg-Kulmbach . The sophisticated monitoring and signaling system with guards in all parts of the principality served as an advance warning in the event of attacks, both in feuds and in times of war. The watch tower on the Kirchberg was part of this late medieval defense system.

Today's observation tower was built in 1895 by the Helmbrechts Beautification Association, increased in 1940 and renovated in 1994. It has a height of 22 meters. The tower is accessible, the key is deposited in the neighboring restaurant.
