AutoZone is the second largest automotive parts retailer in the United States and is based in Memphis, Tennessee . The company was founded in 1979 under the name Auto Shack , but changed its name shortly thereafter due to a trademark lawsuit from RadioShack to AutoZone. Today the company has 6,202 stores in the United States, Mexico and Brazil. AutoZone's stock is traded on the S&P 500 .

AutoZone is a sponsor of the AutoZone Park baseball stadium at the company's Memphis headquarters.
