Auto index
Under Autoindex means a printed directory or a search engine of the Swiss approval and road traffic authorities.
To 1. November 2005 in addition to the earlier books or toll query option by mail (and partly by telephone) of car owners after they were license plates also the way of the direct, automated query offered over the Internet.
The introduction raised concerns about data protection law, so that in some cantons you first have to register for this service. Furthermore, regional restrictions are implemented for retrieval, for example the limitation of 3 retrievals per calendar day. Since February 2011, Appenzell, Glarus, Graubünden, St. Gallen, Solothurn and Thurgau charge CHF 1 per query.
