The Avenida Belgrano is one of the main roads in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . It was named after Manuel Belgrano , the creator of the Argentine flag .

Avenida Belgrano runs from east to west. It begins between basins 2 and 3 of Puerto Madero and crosses the following major streets: Avenida Ingeniero Huergo , Avenida Paseo Colón , Avenida 9 de Julio , Avenida Entre Ríos , Avenida Jujuy and Avenida Boedo and crosses the districts of Montserrat , Balvanera and Almagro where it ends on Calle Muñíz.

From 1774 onwards, the avenue was initially called Santo Domingo. In 1807 it was renamed Pirán, in 1822 it was given its current name, in 1845 its western section was renamed Montserrat, and since 1862 it has been completely renamed again.

Buildings along the Avenida

At the intersection with Avenida Paseo Colón you can see the Teatro Colonial . At number 350 you will find the Convento de Santo Domingo with the Basilica Nuestra Señora del Rosario , where Manuel Belgrano found his final resting place. The Art Nouveau building Edificio Otto Wulf is on the corner of Calle Perú . In the Balvanera district, you can see Hospital Español on the right. The Basilica of St. Rosa of Lima can be seen on Calle Pasco .
