Awesome was an English band that was formed in 1993. It consisted of four members, Derek, Alex, Stevo and Steven, who grew up in the Ladbroke Grove area of north London.
Career
The band was initially founded under the name "Heart & Soul", later renamed itself to "Intrigue", "'Nough said" and also to "Alex and the Boys". But after they were praised by the moderator after a club appearance with the words "You were awesome, awesome, awesome!", They decided to make "Awesome" their band name as well. The band members previously sang together in a church choir.
In autumn 1997 they made their breakthrough in England and Germany with the cover version Rumors (Original: Timex Social Club , 1986).
The band saw themselves as "the best example that different races live and stick together peacefully" because they consisted of two blacks (Alex and Steven) and two whites (Stevo and Derek).
