Awista Ayub

Awista Ayub (* 1979 ) is an Afghan author and founder of the Afghan Youth Sports Exchange in the United States .

Life

Awista Ayub came to the United States from Afghanistan with her family at the age of two. She studied chemistry at the University of Rochester in New York and graduated with a bachelor's degree. She completed her studies at the University of Delaware with a Master of Public Administration. Even during her studies, she was committed to sport, and she is convinced that it will have a social impact. In autumn 2003 she founded the "Afghan Youth Sports Exchange". For her commitment she was awarded the title 'Hero of the Month' by Glamor Magazine in July 2006. From 2005 to 2007 Ayub served as the Education and Health Officer at the Afghan Embassy in Washington, DC.

In her novel Kabul Girls Soccer Club , published under the title Kabul Girls Soccer Club: A Dream, Eight Girls, and a Journey Home 2010, Ayub tells the story of eight girls who were brought to the United States to study how to play football better.
