Yaroslavl torpedo

The Torpedo Sports Palace ( Russian Дворец спорта "Торпе́до" , until 2009 Sports Palace Avtodisel ) is an ice rink in Yaroslavl , which is located on Chkalov Street near the Yaroslavl engine plant JaMZ .

In the mid-1960s, construction of an open ice rink began in Yaroslavl and opened in 1967. In the 1980s the stadium was renovated and roofed over and then had a capacity of around 3,000 spectators. Before the opening of Arena 2000 , the stadium served as the home ground of Torpedo Yaroslavl and from 2000 Lokomotive Yaroslavl. After the team moved to the Arena 2000, the sports palace Awtodisel was used by the second Lokomotive team.

In 2003 the Sportpalast was used to host the U18 Junior World Championship . In 2006 the ice rink was closed to renovate the building. The cost of redevelopment amounted to about 500 million rubles. Since the reopening on September 13, 2009, when the ice rink was named Sportpalast Torpedo , it has been used by the Loko junior team from the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League .

In addition to the ice rink of over 1500 m², the building offers other sports and fitness facilities, training halls for boxing and wrestling as well as a chess club.
