criticism

In the summer of 2004, Krieger made a very high profit by selling freenet shares. He is said to have foreseen an impending price loss due to poor business performance and thus illegally obtained an advantage. The Hamburg Regional Court saw it as proven that this profit from shares in his own company was based on inside information from the CFO and sentenced him to a fine of 300 daily rates (a total of 120,000 euros), which means that Krieger has a criminal record. Furthermore, an forfeiture of pecuniary benefits for the profit made from the sale of shares was ordered, whereby the court was to skim 700,000 euros from Krieger. Before the Federal Court of Justice, Krieger managed to reduce the levy to 324,000 euros, but otherwise the penalty remained the same.

In spring 2018 it became known that Krieger had acquired antenna infrastructure for the operation of VHF broadcasting from a subsidiary of his former company freenet AG, Media Broadcast GmbH . A subsequent escalation to massive price increases by him and other investors led to the specific threat to turn off radio broadcasting for 10 million Germans. The Deutsche UKW Infrastruktur- und Vermarktungs GmbH in Bad Kreuznach, managed by Krieger as managing director, is accused of being a pure mailbox company without employees or business operations.
