The novel is set in Cairo , Egypt , where the Indonesian student Fahri bin Abdullah Shiddiq is studying at al-Azhar University . A love story develops between him and a German woman Aisha. Not only Aisha is in love with Fahri, but also three other women (Maria, Noura and Nurul).

The novella will be filmed by the Indonesian director Hanung Bramantyo in summer 2007 .
