The Aynalıkavak Palace on the Golden Horn

The Aynalıkavak Palace ( Turkish Aynalıkavak Kasrı ) in Istanbul in Turkey is a former sultan's palace that was used in the summer.

location

The palace is located on the Golden Horn directly on the Bosphorus and is now a museum.

history

Under Sultan Ahmed I (1603–1617), summer palaces were built on the site of the present-day palace, which were called "shipyard castles". The facilities were subsequently expanded and called Aynalıkavak Palace since the beginning of the 18th century.

The current state of construction goes to the buildings of Sultan Ahmet III. (1703–1730) and especially the renewal by Sultan Selims III. (1789–1807) back. The castle is two stories high on the lake side and one story on the land side.

Today the castle museum shows an exhibition of Turkish musical instruments.
