The team was founded in 1996 and started playing in the Ice Hockey Superleague . In their first season, the Eagles achieved 48 points in 42 games, placing them third in the Superleague. In the 1997/98 season, the team won the British ice hockey championship for the first time with 73 points. The Scots scored 200 goals in 45 games, with 113 goals conceded and 957 penalty minutes, the team was also leading in these statistics. In the following two seasons, the team achieved only moderate midfield placements with 42 and 43 points respectively. Even in the following years, the team could no longer play for the championship title. Although the Eagles reached second place in the 2001/02 season, they were well behind the Belfast Giants with 49 points , who were able to collect 70 points. For the 2002/03 season, the Scots changed the club name to Scottish Eagles. The team played eight more games before the team had to be disbanded due to financial problems.
In addition, the team took part in the 1998/99 season as reigning British champions in the European Hockey League .
