Az-buki ( Bulgarian Национално издателство за образование и наука Аз-буки National Publishing House for Education and Science Az Buki ) is a Bulgarian publishing house for science and teaching materials as well as fiction for children and adolescents in Sofia . It is owned by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education. The editor-in-chief is Nadia Kantareva-Baruh.
The publisher publishes science journals and the weekly Az-buki magazine.
Surname
Az and Buki are the first two letters of the Glagolitic script .
Az-buki magazine
The first issue of Az-buki (Аз-буки) magazine came out in 1991. It appears weekly with consecutive numbering with an edition of 1500 copies. According to their own account, each copy is read by around 22 people.
Predecessors of the Ministry of Education had already published the magazine "Училищен преглед" (Uchilishten pregled, Rundschau für Schulwesen ) from 1896 to 1949, the continuation of which is Az-buki .
school books
The publishing house also prints school books for science subjects. The publisher also publishes the uniform examination documents for Bulgarian schools.
Science journals
The journals of the Az-buki-Verlag, some with a long publication history before the publishing house was founded, contain scientific texts in Bulgarian and English, research papers and criticism from scholars and teachers. The journals have a total of around 31,000 subscribers.

- Language education,
- Philosophy,
- Foreign languages,
- Strategies for Politics in Science and Education.
The journals are indexed and abstracted in Web of Science, Philosopher's Index, Scopus, ERIH PLUS, CEEOL, Google Scholar, Primo (Ex Libris), Summon (ProQuest), Sociological Abstracts, ИНИОН & - РАН, EBSCOhost and Philosophy Documentation Center.
Projects
Az-buki-Verlag works with international and Bulgarian state institutions and universities, including the European online portal for adult education. The publishing house is an active participant in initiatives aimed both at the development of educational activity and the popularization of Bulgarian science and youth activities. The publisher is a laureate of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
