Tetradrachm of Azilises

Azilises (* before 57 BC; † around or after 35 BC) was an Indo-Scythian king.

He is practically only known from his coins and is referred to there as the Great King of Kings . A few of his coins name him together with Azes I , which may indicate a common government, but it was perhaps only very brief. In any case, overprints show that he succeeded Azes I and was then followed by Azes II . Its silver and copper coins come from Taxila , Pushkalavati and the middle Indus . This obviously corresponded to his domain. A coin comes from Taxila, which was found together with one of the Roman emperor Augustus and could give an indication of a later date.
