Azoospermia Factor

The azoospermia factor can be found on the long arm of the Y chromosome . It is divided into 3 non-overlapping areas, AZFa, AZFb and AZFc. A mutation in one of these areas leads to impaired spermatogenesis . The sperm can no longer mature, so there are few or no sperm . The resulting disease is called azoospermia .
