The brewery was opened as a steam brewery in 1887. The Großmann family from Großröhrsdorf financed the construction. The brewery's first leaseholder was Albin Nestler. After around 14,000 hectoliters of beer had been brewed annually until the beginning of the First World War , production was switched to mineral water in 1916/1917 due to the war.

After the end of the First World War, the brewery was resumed. In the 1930s and 1960s, the company was fundamentally expanded and modernized. After nationalization in 1972 , the brewery was incorporated into the VEB Dresdner Breweries in 1975 as part of the Bautzen plant . In 1979 this resulted in the formation of the VEB Getränkekombinat Dresden.

After reunification , the brewery was re- privatized in 1990 and modernized again in the following years. The brewery has been operating as Böhmisch Brauhaus Großröhrsdorf GmbH since 2008 .
