Theater publisher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A theater publisher, also stage publisher or stage sales, is a service provider who looks after the authors of plays and tries to perform them on as many stages as possible .

The tasks of a theater publisher include

  • the selection and editing of submitted pieces,
  • advising the authors on the placement of pieces,
  • the contact and negotiations with interested theaters and if necessary
  • the conclusion of a contract for the performance, as well as
  • the marketing of ancillary rights, in particular the exploitation in film, television and radio.

The theater publisher can therefore be viewed as a special form of literary agency. Publishing theater plays in book form is generally not one of the tasks of a theater publisher.
