The BfTG sees itself as the central point of contact for politics, media and business on the subject of e-cigarettes. According to its own statement, the purpose of the association is to advocate the appropriate regulation of steam devices, electronic cigarettes, as well as e-liquids or refill containers for e-cigarettes and accessories for e-cigarettes in the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union . Child and youth protection , quality, safety and sustainability are to be guaranteed. Membership of companies in the tobacco industry is excluded by statute . A major aim of the work of the BfTG is to influence the public discussion on e-cigarettes in the interests of its members. To this end, the BfTG and the information portal eGarage are organizing an annual discussion event for politicians, journalists and scientists in Berlin.

Work of the association

The BfTG is entered in the public list of the registration of associations and their representatives , the lobby list , at the German Bundestag. In addition, the BfTG, as a specialist political association, has been explicitly asked by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture for statements on current topics from its area of ​​expertise.

In addition, the alliance for tobacco-free enjoyment is actively involved in the working group “E cigarette and liquids for e cigarettes” of the DIN standards committee “Tobacco and Tobacco Products”. Work is underway here to improve product safety and the labeling of e-cigarettes and accessories.
