Alliance Army

In military and political terminology, an alliance army is an army that is connected to a supranational military alliance and at the same time is heavily dependent on it both logistically and militarily.

An alliance army was z. B. the army of the German Confederation , which existed until 1866.

The Bundeswehr was closely involved in NATO from its foundation in 1955 until reunification in 1990 and did not have its own command structure. In the event of an alliance, the German armed forces were subordinate to the Commander in Chief of NATO.
