The Citizens' Party ( Finnish Kansalaispuolue , Swedish Medborgarpartiet ) is a political party founded in Finland in 2016 . It was founded by the long-time Center politician and MEP Paavo Väyrynen , who left the Center Party in mid-2016. Väyrynen was the first party leader until July 2017, followed by Sami Kilpeläinen .
The party did not participate in the 2017 local elections , despite Väyrynen being elected as an independent candidate to Helsinki City Council.
