The 2017 local elections in Finland took place on April 9, 2017. Elected municipal or city councils in 295 municipalities in Finland , excluding Åland . The term of office of the elected lasts four years and began on January 1, 2018. Several municipalities changed the size of their councils before the elections, so that the number of seats was reduced from 9,674 to 8,999.
