The presidential election in Finland in 2000 was held on 16 January and 6 February 2000th Since no candidate achieved an absolute majority in the first ballot, a runoff election had to be held.

With Tarja Halonen from the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP), a woman was elected head of state for the first time. Halonen narrowly prevailed against Esko Aho from the center in the runoff election .
