Local elections in Finland 2012
The 2012 local elections in Finland took place on October 28, 2012.
9,674 members were elected to the city and municipal councils. The new term of office began on January 1, 2013.
Similar to the parliamentary elections in spring 2011 , the base Finns were able to reap the strongest profits this time , albeit not to the same extent as a year and a half earlier. In addition, they became only the fourth force behind the rally party , social democrats and center . The first three parties mentioned lost between 1.4 and 1.7 percentage points compared to 2008, the other larger parties, with the exception of the Basic Finns, lost slightly, the Swedish People's Party stagnated.
In absolute terms, the Center Party won the most seats in the municipal and city councils, due to its predominance in the country and the different representation conditions in the city and in the country.
