Parliamentary election in Finland 1983
The parliamentary elections in Finland in 1983 took place on March 20 and 21, 1983. It was the election of the 29th Finnish Parliament .
The Rural Party of Finland and the ruling Social Democratic Party were the biggest winners in the elections. The left-wing People's Democratic Union suffered great losses and the Christian Union also lost two thirds of its previous seats. The Green Bund, which received 1.5% of the vote, made it into parliament for the first time. Kalevi Sorsa of the Social Democratic Party remained Prime Minister and took the newly strengthened Finnish Rural Party into government.

After the election
Kalevi Sorsa continued his coalition of Social Democrats, the Center and the Swedish People's Party. He also formed a coalition with the Land Party of Finland. It became the first Finnish majority government to last a full term.
