Parliamentary election in Finland 1927
The parliamentary elections in Finland in 1927 ( Finnish Eduskuntavaalit 1927 ; Swedish Riksdagsvalet 1927 ) took place on July 1 and 2, 1927. It was the election for the 12th Finnish Parliament .
In the three years following the last election in 1924, there were four different governments. Most recently, the Social Democrat Väinö Tanner ruled as Prime Minister. However, his SDP had no official coalition and with its 60 seats formed a minority government.
The second strongest force in parliament, the Landbund, was able to achieve the greatest gains: eight more seats than in the previous legislative period were won in the election. The Social Democrats, on the other hand, lost slightly. The conservative rallying party and the liberal Progress Party suffered the greatest losses.

After the election
Juho Sunila became the new Prime Minister of Finland on December 17, 1927. His Landbund ruled alone in a minority government. The Landbund remained in government for a year before Oskari Mantere was elected Prime Minister by the Progressive Party. Until August 16, 1929, ministers of the Progress Party ruled together with ministers from the Collection Party, who, however, belonged to the Cabinet on their own initiative and were not sent to it by the Collection Party. New elections took place in July 1929, exactly two years to the day after the 1927 elections.
Overview:
- Cabinet Sunila I - Juho Sunila (ML) - Government: ML ( December 17, 1927 to December 22, 1928 )
- Cabinet Mantere - Oskari Mantere (Ed.) - Government: Ed. (with ministers from Kok., December 22, 1928 to August 16, 1929 )
