Matti Paasivuori ( born Hällberg, later Hälleberg until 1906 ; born May 6, 1866 in Ilmajoki , † June 16, 1937 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish politician of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP).

The trained carpenter was involved in the labor movement early on. In 1899 the later SDP was founded, for which he sat in the Finnish Reichstag from 1907 and represented the constituency of Viipurin lääni in Karelia in eastern Finland. In contrast to other leaders of the SDP at the time, such as Kullervo Manner or Otto Wille Kuusinen , who later joined the Communist Party , he represented moderate positions within the party . After the Finnish Civil War in 1918, he was the only member of the political left who did not stay away from the Senate. Under Oskari Tokoi , Paasivuori was deputy chairman of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 1917. In 1927 he was also Minister for Social Affairs in the government of the Social Democrat Väinö Tanners . Paasivuori held his seat in the Finnish Reichstag until August 1936.
