Oswald Grill

Oswald Grill (born August 30, 1878 in Vienna ; † January 13, 1964 there ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

Born in Vienna, Oswald Grill worked as a freelance artist in Dachau from 1906 after studying painting with Karl Karger at the Vienna School of Applied Arts and with Carl von Marr and Alexander von Wagner at the Munich Art Academy . After his return to Vienna, Grill - he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1908 - served as Vice President and President of the Central Association of Austrian Artists from 1917 to 1938 .

The painterly work of Oswald Grill, who was appointed professor in 1929 , comprised, from a naturalistic point of view, predominantly light and clear natural moods capturing landscape paintings as well as portraits , which were exhibited in the Vienna Künstlerhaus and in the Munich Glass Palace . Oswald Grill has received numerous honors, including the Golden Decoration of Honor of the Republic of Austria , the Small Golden State Medal and the Golden Laurel of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
