Presidential election in Finland 1919
The presidential election in Finland in 1919 was the first election for president in Finland.
In contrast to later elections, the president was elected by parliament in 1919. Kaarlo Juho Ståhlberg , member of the National Progressive Party, received an absolute majority in the first ballot. Ståhlberg was also supported by the Landbund and the Social Democrats, who prevent the election of the conservative-supported Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim .
