politics
- administration
Politics in Tervola, as in many other places in Finnish Lapland, is dominated by two parties. The strongest political force in the local council, the highest decision-making body in local affairs, is the Center Party with 10 out of 21 mandates , followed by the traditionally strong left-wing alliance in Lapland with 7 seats.
In the 2008 local elections, the left-wing alliance in Tervola achieved its best result in Finland with 35.5% of the vote. The other two people's parties in Finland, on the other hand, hardly play a role in Tervola: the Social Democrats were only able to win two seats with a single-digit election result, while the conservative National Collection Party failed to make it into the local council. Furthermore, the free voter community Tervolan sitoutumattomat is represented with two seats in the municipal council.
