Bōken Shōnen Shadar ( Japanese 冒 険 少年 シ ャ ダ ー , Bōken Shōnen Shadā ) is an anime series by Nippon Hōso Eigasha and Toei Animation from 1967 and 1968. It was later distributed in Latin America and can be classified in the genres of adventure and action .

The young fighter Shadar was woken up by his guards after a long sleep in a temple under Mount Fuji when the demon Ghoster attacked the people. This wants to rule the world and Shadar should fight against him. With his ability to create copies of himself and his lightsaber, he is always superior to his opponent. His colleagues include the scientist Mambo, the boy Brock and his dog Pinboke.

Production and publication

The television series was produced by the studios Nippon Hōso Eigasha and Toei Animation in 1967, based on a script by Masaki Tsuji . Directed by Jizu Kataoka and Shinichi Kuwajima created the designs. Atsutoshi Soda composed the background music. The opening song Shadā no uta ( シ ャ ダ ー の う た ) comes from CA Pops, Shuji Terayama and Tadashi Suzuki.

The station NTV showed the 156 episodes of ten minutes in length every workday and Saturday from September 18, 1967 to March 30, 1968. Kenji Utsumi , spokesman for Ghoster, was known in Japan for this role and later appeared in similar roles of demonic antagonists .

A Spanish translation was broadcast by Canal 12 Multimedios (Mexico) and Televisa Canal 5, an Italian by Italia 1 and a Portuguese by Rede Record (Brazil) and TV Tupi. The series became known internationally under various titles, including the English translation of the title Adventure Boy Shadar and the Italian title La spada di luce , the Portuguese Shadow Boy and the Spanish Sombrita .
