B3 Biennial of the Moving Image

The B3 Biennial of Moving Images is a creative festival. It shows films, video art, computer games, installations and virtual reality by international artists and creatives.

As the successor to the eDIT Filmmaker's Festival , it has been held at various locations in Frankfurt am Main since 2013 . Initially every two years, now every year. In 2019, the B3 took place for the first time together with the THEARTS + cultural festival at the Frankfurt Book Fair .

In addition to the exhibits, there are lectures, panel discussions, workshops and an award ceremony in which works from all categories are awarded a B3 BEN Award .

The exhibits shown in the past include

  • In 2013 a six-meter-wide dome for 360-degree video projections in the Weißfrauen-Diakoniekirche
  • 2015 the world premiere of the 25-year split-screen video "The Wall - The Vertical Horizon" by Rotraut Pape
  • In 2017 a 110-meter-long panorama on the facade of Frankfurt's municipal theaters with the video installation "The Great Farce" by Federico Solmi

The B3 is organized by the Offenbach am Main University of Design . The artistic director is the president of the university, Prof. Bernd Kracke.
