history

On November 28th 1974 the "Federal Association of Manufacturers and Installers of Protection, Reporting and Monitoring Systems for Persons and Property eV" was founded. It was later renamed the "Federal Association of Manufacturers and Installers of Security Systems eV". It has had its current name since June 20, 2013.

Initially, the association was based in Munich. However, the business premises were relocated to Rhineland-Palatinate in 1978. The BHE has been working in the association's own office in Brücken (Palatinate) since 1995 .

BHE-Service-GmbH was founded as a 100 percent subsidiary of BHE eV in 1992 to separate the actual association tasks from economic activities. In January 2007 the name of BHE-Service-GmbH was changed to BHE-Akademie-GmbH. It bundles the entire range of advanced training courses (BHE seminars and congresses), sales and the BHE certificate under one roof.

In addition to the academy, the BHE-Qualitätmanagement-GmbH was established at the beginning of 2007, offering a QM group certification process according to ISO 9001.

Tasks and achievements

One of the main tasks of the BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik eV is to represent the interests of the affiliated companies in the market and vis-à-vis authorities and other associations. In addition, there is active participation in standardization at the German level at DIN Berlin and DKE Frankfurt as well as at the international level.

Another task is the certification of the installers and planners organized in the association with the BHE certificate.

The training and further education of employees of affiliated and external companies through around 70 seminars, specialist conferences and webinars every year is an essential part of the association's activities. The association also operates its own e-learning platform.

The BHE is also a co-initiator of the awareness campaigns "Initiative for active burglar protection - Not with me", "Smoke alarms save lives" and "Initiative for the prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning".

Other services provided by the BHE include the sale of specialist literature, company books, symbols for preventive safety techniques, etc., press and public relations work, as well as supporting members with commercial and technical information and papers.

The BHE also offers QM group certification according to ISO 9001.

Certification as a BHE specialist company / BHE specialist planner

The first BHE certificates for installer companies were awarded in 1984. The certificate is intended to make it clear to the customer that the company plans, installs and maintains safety systems in compliance with the applicable standards and regulations.

It is awarded to installers ("BHE-certified specialist company") and planners ("BHE-certified specialist planner") in the specialist areas of fire alarm systems, intrusion alarm systems, mechanical security technology, smoke and heat extraction systems, video surveillance, outdoor area surveillance and voice alarms.

According to the company, more than 1,000 certificates have been issued across all specialist areas since the introduction of the BHE installer certification.

Technical committees

The specialist committees deal with current issues and tasks in the industry in the interests of the member companies. Working groups are formed within the specialist committees to deal intensively with special topics and to exchange experiences across the board.
